Godflesh has announced their penultimate album, ‘Decay’, set to be released on September 25, 2026, via Relapse Records. This album marks the end of the band’s active career, with the lead single “Living/Ending” already available for streaming. The album was initially recorded in the same sessions as their previous album, ‘Purge’, but the band’s founder, Justin Broaderick, found it impossible to continue following recovery from major abdominal surgery he had earlier this year. The album’s timing is bound up with Broadrick’s health, and the recordings were completed long before the surgery, although the back end of a couple of songs were recorded with the hernia itself. Despite the struggles, the album was mixed post-surgery, and while Broadrick was still in some pain, he was aware that the Godflesh shout, so to speak, was exacerbating the hernia greatly.
