Formed in Birmingham in 1992, Esoteric have built one of the most extreme and uncompromising bodies of work in doom metal. Their music is vast, psychedelic and deeply disorientating; dense layers of guitars, electronics and voice unfolding across compositions that often feel closer to altered states than conventional songs.
From the monumental early double albums Epistemological Despondency and The Pernicious Enigma through The Maniacal Vale, Paragon of Dissonance and 2019’s A Pyrrhic Existence, the band have continually expanded their own language without softening it for anyone.
More than three decades in, they remain a genuinely singular force in extreme music.
