From a one-man project to one of the UK’s most vital extreme metal acts, Abduction’s rise has been relentless. While many bands pay homage to black metal’s past, Abduction’s music remains both authentically rooted and unmistakably its own — a duality exemplified on their latest album, Existentialismus.

After a prolific trilogy of releases between 2017 and 2019, 2022 saw the explosive arrival of Black Blood, their first album for Candlelight Records. Fusing raw black metal with progressive, psychedelic, and post-metal textures, it marked a bold new chapter in the band’s evolution.

On the face of it, Existentialismus is a return to more stripped-down mechanics, yet it is arguably the band’s most electrifying, emotionally complex, and personal recording to date. The searing, almost unrelenting aural intensity remains, but immersive tracks such as “Truth is as Sharp a Sword as Vengeance” and “Razors of Occam” are soaked in a new level of emotion and personal investment. Recorded, for the first time, as a full band, the album carries a palpable sense of scale, reflecting the ambition and embittered grandeur of the material — a cohesive fusion of otherworldly atmospheres, fiery aggression, and apocalyptic tension.

Abduction has become one of the UK’s most compelling black metal forces, delivering ritualistic, immersive performances that captivate audiences at club shows and festivals including Damnation, Bloodstock, Incineration, Fortress, Doomsday, Mass Destruction, Samhain, Reaperfest, and Eradication.
