Godflesh’s new album Decay has entered the UK charts, reaching No. 9 on the Rock & Metal Albums Chart and No. 30 on the Independent Albums Chart.
Released through Relapse Records, Decay marks the latest chapter in Godflesh’s long and uncompromising history, once again operating entirely on their own terms.
The album also offers a glimpse toward what comes next for Broadrick. He has described Decay’s closing track, “Consume Me,” as an additional, approximate template for the direction of his new project White Light District — a new outlet for the heavier, uglier and more dissonant side of his work.
More than three decades into their career, Godflesh remain one of the most singular and influential heavy bands to emerge from the UK, and it is great to see Decay landing in the charts without the band having to dilute a thing.
Congratulations to everyone at Relapse.
